A very successful event which raised over £3,500 for Destiny Garden School and was enjoyed by all - many have asked us to do it again next year!

The event was held at Myketa, Macclesfield, decorated beautifully, with grateful thanks to Michael King and Caterer Oliver’s of Knutsford who provided a three course meal.

The proceeds of the event are going to equip the new Classroom 6, ready for the new school year in January 2012. Enough was raised to also help with other improvements needed by DGS.
The Kitchen Table Charities Trust, KTCT, founded by John Humphries, generously gave Destiny Children a grant to build Classroom 6 at Destiny Garden School and to install a Rainwater Harvesting System. Please see this link to view their website.

Wine Tasting on Friday 9th September 2011
A very successful event which raised much needed funds for Destiny Garden School - over £500. The event was sponsored by Renaissance Art and Wine - www.renaissance-2010.com - and our grateful thanks go to them for making the event so successful.
It was wine tasting with a difference as we were also able to see round the art gallery and local artist, Steven Bewsher, gave us an inspiring painting demonstration.

Pencil Case Project - October 2010
The shipping container to Mombasa was finally released, having been stuck in customs for a couple of months!!
Kings School Junior Division, Macclesfield, originally helped get this project underway, and it was completed by supporters of Destiny Children - our grateful thanks to all those who helped.
When the pencil cases were delivered to Destiny Garden School, there was great excitement amongst both the children and staff; Jacob said “ the children and teachers were full of joy and the school has been blessed by your efforts ... we received items beyond our expectations ... it brought a ray of hope to the teachers’.

Car Boot Sale - Sunday 17th October 2010

Val's Dinner Party - Saturday 10th July 2010
Val held a dinner party for her friends to raise funds to provide First Aid Training at DGS
Whilst Val was doing voluntary work at Destiny Garden School one of the children broke his leg. It was a very bad break and took place in the playground when two children ran into each other. Val was concerned that none of the teachers, other staff or children knew any first aid and this inspired her to fund raise to pay for the Red Cross to give First Aid training to some of the staff and children at Destiny Garden School.
The Dinner Party was a great success and, thanks to Val for all her hard work, she raised £300 to provide this First Aid Training, as well as a new First Aid box!

A Coffee Morning - Thursday 1st July 2010
This took place at the Gawsworth Methodist Church Hall, which the Church very kindly let us use free of charge.
Thanks to the support of Gawsworth community and to our friends who baked cakes and donated books and bric-a-brac, we raised over £250 for Destiny Garden School.

Pencil Case Project

Great activity during May 2010 collecting pencil cases and their contents to distribute to all the children at Destiny Garden School. Kings School Junior Division, Macclesfield, helped get this project underway.

Letters to Children at DGS
During March/April 2010, Children at Kings School Junior Division, Macclesfield wrote letters to the children at Destiny Garden School. Val, Committee Secretary, and her daughter, who did voluntary work at the school during the Easter period, supervised the replies to these letters.
Concert - Saturday 20th March 2010
The Poynton Male Voice Choir and The Occasional Trio kindly gave their time and talents to entertain us at the Methodist Church in Macclesfield. The concert was a great success and raised over £750 for Destiny Garden School.

Val holds a Book Sale - Saturday 5th December 2009
Friends and family dropped by for a cuppa and a piece of home made cake, bringing and buying books which raised funds to go towards the school’s costs in December.

Nadine’s ’Fat Friday’
Nadine, the daughter of Destiny Children committee member, Val, held a fund raising events before she went to DGS to do voluntary work. On Fridays Nadine’s Office treat themselves to cakes or chocolates, and it has become known as their ’Fat Fridays.’


On Friday 29th January, Nadine, with her mother’s help, took the opportunity to bake same cakes for the office. Everyone appreciated having home make cakes for a change and not only paid for them but made some generous donations for Destiny Garden School. Nadine bought a few musical instruments with the proceeds and took them to the school in March.

Kathy Climbs Mt. Kilimanjaro - 12th October 2009
Kathy James, who is on the committee of Destiny Children, raised funds for both Destiny Garden School and the Mombasa hospital she did voluntary work at by successfully climbing to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - 5,895 metres (19,341 ft). Well done Kathy!
