Carol, mother of twins and keen amateur athlete, is also a keen supporter of Destiny Garden School. On Sunday, April 17th 2011, she ran the London Marathon for Destiny Children and raised over £1,380 ! (with Gift Aid over £1,700!)

Running the London Marathon is a huge achievement at any time but for Carol it was particularly difficult having been laid low with back problems during training and up to hours before the event.

A week before the race, Carol could hardly stand up or walk. On a personal level she was gutted that after months and months of training, she thought she might have to defer her place till next year ..... but suddenly and more importantly, after she had made her promise to the children at Destiny Garden School, it became so much more important than 'personal bests' to complete the 26.2 miles. She saw her physio who said 'throw every drug you can at it!' .... So she did!
Carol was worried about the drive down to London but knelt most of the way and moved about as much as she could. The afternoon before the race it still hurt but she could walk upright! On the morning of the Marathon she pinned on her number and hoped for the best.
The weather was really hot and the run was very crowded but there was a tremendous atmosphere. Although Carol would say it was the hardest thing she has done since giving birth to her beautiful twin girls, she is happy to report that she completed the Marathon in 4 hours 20 minutes, which was a bit slower than she really wanted to do but still a fantastic time!
Carol is so grateful to all her friends and family who prayed for her and says that thanks to the power of Prayer, Angels, Voterol and Co–codamo, she achieved her goal! Her guts and determination have rewarded the charity handsomely and the children & staff of Destiny Garden School are hugely impressed, very grateful and appreciate the enormous effort she has put in to raise much needed funds for the school.
